writer and theatre maker

Finley-Rose Townsend is a Leicester playwright and theatre practitioner creating intimate, collaborative work rooted in lived experience. She is currently under seed commission from Fifth Word Theatre, Leicester Curve, and Derby Theatre, developing a new pop-up play, and was selected for Fifth Word’s 2024/2025 Playwriting cohort, where her play Good Boy was showcased at Nottingham Playhouse.

In 2025, she produced and directed Ty’rone Haughton’s five-star debut show Made You Look, and her short story was published in Motherhood Uncensored’s anthology.

Fin trained as a director on Birmingham REP’s Foundry programme and has worked across the Midlands directing and producing theatre productions and festivals. She is a past recipient of the JMK Regional Assistant Director award (2017) and has directed work for VAULT Festival (2018).

She now co-runs Literati Arts, a Leicester-based poetry organisation, producing creative projects and curating live performance and literary events. When the children are finally asleep, she writes plays long into the night.

“I'm buzzing to connect with fellow East Midlands creatives and see what collaborations might spark. I’m a big fan of
New Perspectives and the work they do and can’t wait to get to know them as an organisation better.
